Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves - Estimate Summary »

Muurinsuo gold deposit is located approximately 15 kilometres south of Pampalo belonging to the Karelian Gold Line. A zone with strongly altered greywackes and mica schists was distinguished from the bedrock near the northeaststriking northeast-striking shear zone close to Kuittila tonalite contact. Conform quartz-feldspar porphyry veins, thin interbeds of basic volcanites, quartz-tourmaline veins and breccias which all are auriferous exist in the mineralised part. A gold mineralisation is found disseminated in host rocks together with pyrrhotite, pyrite, arsenopyrite, gersdorffite, and telluridies. The disseminated mineralisation is found in groups of mineralised veins striking to north-northeast direction.

Exploration

The mineralisation was discovered in 1987 by Geological Survey of Finland as a result of the geochemical till sampling from over 400 square kilometres wide area. The magnetic and electromagnetic landsurveys and airborne surveys in low height revealed the structures indicating a gold mineralisation. The area was mapped with the help of some geophysical surveys, and in a later phase core drilling was carried out with 50 m’s profile spacing totalling 5216 metres divided into 56 drill holes.

Mineral Resources

In 2008 Runge LtD carried out an estimation of tonnage and grades in the deposit Muurinsuo. They resulted indicated mineral resources of 211 000 t with 2,7 g gold/t, corresponding to 18 000 oz and inferred mineral resources of 786 000 t with 1,5 g gold/t, corresponding to 37 900 oz. The estimates have been made with a 0,5 g gold/t cut-off. The deposit is open at depth below 100 metres and along the strike. The classification is made according to the JORC code.
